Sensitive Tooth Bradshaw Family Dental AZ 86314When it comes to shopping for food, whether you do it weekly or monthly, you may want to stop buying sugar if you think your teeth are sensitive to it. Having a sensitivity to sugar can be hard, especially for people who love their sweets.

However, it is best to cut it out if you want to stop the pain. How do you know if you have a sensitivity to sugar though and why does this happen? Here is some information to help you and do not forget that you can call us for help.

What is Tooth Sensitivity?

Having a sensitivity to certain foods, especially sugar can cause a lot of pain. Having tooth sensitivity is a simple term to describe root or dentin hypersensitivity. There are two main causes of this problem, and they are periodontal disease and receding gums.

The reason for the teeth to become sensitive is that they lose the protective enamel. Once you start to lose your enamel or lose it altogether already, you cannot get it back, and this can cause your teeth to be sensitive to sugary foods, and therefore, hurt badly.

What Sugar Can do to Your Teeth

Sugary foods are very satisfying to us, and we all have a sweet tooth. We all crave that candy or cake every once in a while or sometimes more often than that. However, once that enamel wears away, our teeth are done.

The main culprit of causing the enamel to wear away is sugar. Foods high in sugar can wear away the enamel of the teeth. Once this happens, make sure you see us for the help you need to prevent this from happening or to see if we can help get rid of your pain.
