Cavities can be painless, and you don't even know you have one until we do some X-rays, but they can also hurt a lot. If we haven't seen you in a while and you have a painful cavity that is affecting the root of the tooth, there are some things you can do to manage the pain of your cavity until we can tend to it. A cavity happens when the protective layer of the tooth, the enamel, softens because of acids that promote the growth of bacteria. When a cavity hurts, it is because the decay has reached the inner layers of the teeth where the nerves are located. It is essential that we treat your cavity as soon as possible to avoid any other problems from developing. Home Remedies for Pain from a CavityWhile you wait for your appointment, the pain from a cavity will be uncomfortable, but there are certain things you can do in the meantime.
