While you may be tempted to stretch the truth a little when you visit our office, we assure you, we know if your brushing needs improvement. Your mouth is an excellent reflection of not only your oral health, but your health in general. You Have a CavityThese are words that none of our patients are excited to hear, and we can help you prevent them, as long as you are honest with us. When you are visiting our office, we will check to see if your gums are receding, this is an early sign of periodontal disease and we can tell if you haven't been flossing regularly or if you have picked up smoking just by checking your gums.During your exam, we will check your mouth for infection or inflammation of the gum tissue and surrounding tissue. If there is excessive bleeding around your gum line from your exam, this is a signal to us that you have not been flossing or brushing regularly. Advanced decay is another sign to us that you have not been brushing properly. Brushing at least twice per day and flossing at least once a day helps rid your mouth of things like plaque, tartar build up and bacteria. All of those things can lead to enamel erosion and tooth decay. Come See Us RegularlyIf you have not been keeping up with your oral health care, please do not let that stop you from seeking treatment with us. We want to help you get your oral health back in great shape one step at a time, and the longer you wait, the more work (and potential pain) it will be later. Please call our office soon and schedule a cleaning and a checkup. We look forward to helping you get back on track. |
