You might have taken great care of your teeth from a young age. You have been brushing them, flossing, and even making regular visits to our office. Sadly, it can be very easy for your teeth to start developing spaces in between them. While the space might be small, it can feel as big as a canyon at times. Luckily, if you feel that this space is stealing from the shine of your smile, we have options that can help correct this spacing issue, other than through orthodontics. Dental BondingThis is the easiest and quickest option for correcting gaps in your teeth. You will simply have to apply tooth-colored resin on your teeth. The material is typically designed to look like your normal teeth and then hardened. Once it is applied to the affected area, it will bond with the rest of your dentition, making the space disappear. You, however, have to take great care of the dental bonds as they can stain easily as well as chip more easily than other options.Porcelain VeneersThis option is a tad more involving than the dental bonding option, but it is still simple and can be quite durable. Ideally, a veneer is a thin piece of porcelain that matches the color and shape of your teeth. It is bonded over the front of your tooth, making it look like a mask at first. This helps to hide any ad hoc imperfections. Once completely bonded, the material becomes sturdy and quite tough to break. Veneers are typically permanent, and the process is irreversible. For it to be applied, a portion of your enamel will have to be removed to make way for the veneer. As such, your teeth will always need the veneer for protection. Both of the above options are quite effective in adjusting the space on your teeth. However, both will only be as effective as the care you offer them. Consult us today to pick an option that fits your situation. |
